This site describes my program of studies at Hampshire College, a small liberal arts college of approximately 1,300 students, located in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Hampshire is a member of the Five College Consortium which is made up by Hampshire, Amherst, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Students are able to share the resources and take courses at any of the Five Colleges at no extra charge and with free bus service between the campuses.
Hampshire is the newest of the Five Colleges admitting its first class in 1970 and was created through the efforts of the presidents of the other four colleges.
While a member of the Five College Consortium, Hampshire's educational structure is unique, in that there are no tests, no grades, and no majors. Hampshire students do not receive "report cards", rather they accumulate a portfolio of their work and of faculty and self-evaluations for all courses taken.
